What is Gear Machine?
Gear Machine is a logic puzzle: a driver gear spins, and the player places gears on pegs so that meshing gears carry the rotation to an output gear. Each mesh reverses the spin direction and changes speed by the gear ratio; the goal is to make the output gear turn, sometimes in a required direction.
How to play
- The blue driver gear always spins. Tap a peg to drop a gear; tap it again to remove it.
- Two gears mesh when they sit on neighbouring pegs — the drive carries through, flipping direction at every mesh.
- Make the gold output gear turn. Some levels need it turning a specific way; an odd loop jams the machine (links turn red). Use fewer gears for a higher score.
Tips
- Count the meshes: an even number of meshes spins the output the same way as the driver, an odd number reverses it.
- Avoid closing a loop with an odd number of gears — it locks up.
